The International Library Ilaria Alpi of Parma City Council in collaboration with the International Master Digital Library of the University of Parma, have organized a series of lectures held by leading international experts on issues of access to information and its possible impact for improving the society.

In the Information Society, digital libraries are an important tool for the quality of life experience of people and communities, supporting lifelong learning and active citizenship locally, but are perfectly integrated globally, in other words they are always international. The series of lectures is of particular interest for professionals that manage digital collections and services based on these, but will also be useful for all interested in information policy and in realizing the Information Society objectives.

First Open Conference is on Sept 7 at 16 pm in the International Library Seminar Room and Klaus Kempf will speak about:

Fit for the digital age. Reorganisation and restructuring of the Bavarian State Library (BSB) for tackling the challenges of the digital library
